DonnaSouthsideDowntown Brownwood will come alive to the sound of ringing bells Friday, December 4th at 6:00 pm as The Spirit of Christmas Lighted Parade makes its way through the streets, kicking off the Christmas Under the Stars Festival. The Grand Marshal of the parade is the Salvation Army, represented by Donna Harris, Director of the Brownwood Service Center. This year’s parade is themed, “The Spirit of Christmas” and is sponsored by Southside Church.

“The Salvation Army is a shining example of an organization that gives back to others; and not just at Christmas time, but all year long,” said Eric Evans, Pastor of Worship and Administration at Southside Church. “The Southside Church family is thrilled to have this opportunity to give back to the community and we hope to inspire others to do so as well.” All participants in the parade are encouraged to support a non-profit organization of their choosing.

The lighted parade will take place Friday, December 4th at 6:00 pm. Awards will be given to participants in the following categories: Best of Parade, (overall entry that best develops Theme, Design and Lighting), Grand Marshal’s Choice (entry that best exemplifies the Parade Theme), Club/Civic Organization, Equine, Company/Industry, Religious, School, Vehicle, Band. Registration is available online at www.southsidebrownwood.org or forms can be picked up at the Southside Church office (1219 Indian Creek). All participants must register by noon on December 3rd. Email office@southsidebrownwood.org or call 325-646-0844 for more information.
