The Texas Juvenile Justice Department provided the following updates Wednesday related to COVID-19:

• 1 youth at the Ron Jackson State Juvenile Correctional Complex, in Brownwood, tested positive for COVID-19 this morning.

• 1 youth at the McLennan County State Juvenile Correctional Facility, in Mart, tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday.

• 1 member of the Inspector General’s staff at the McLennan County State Juvenile Correctional Facility tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday.

Since the start of the pandemic, 196 staff members at the agency’s secure facilities have tested positive for COVID-19:

Evins Regional Juvenile Center: 60

Gainesville State School: 12

Giddings State School: 43

McLennan County State Juvenile Correctional Facility: 38

Ron Jackson State Juvenile Correctional Complex: 43

Since the start of the pandemic, 227 youth at the agency’s secure facilities have tested positive for COVID-19:

Evins Regional Juvenile Center: 35

Gainesville State School: 13

Giddings State School: 89

McLennan County State Juvenile Correctional Facility: 64

Ron Jackson State Juvenile Correctional Complex: 27
