Weekly Fishing Reports for Area Lakes

fishingBelow are the fishing reports for area lakes as reported by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department this week.

Lake Brownwood

Water clear; 83–86 degrees; 11.34′ low. Black bass to 4 pounds are excellent on redbug and watermelon topwaters, Grande Bass Baby Rattlesnakes, Bass Hogg jigs, and perch colored crankbaits along shorelines in 4–6 feet. Hybrid striper are slow. White bass are good on Li’l Fishies and Rat–L–Traps under lights at night. Crappie are excellent on white Li’l Fishies and black/chartreuse tube jigs in 10–15 feet. Channel catfish to 3 pounds are good on cut bait over baited holes. Yellow catfish to 25 pounds are good on trotlines baited with perch in 5–15 feet.

Lake Coleman

Water lightly stained; 83–87 degrees; 16.36′ low. Black bass are fair on small crankbaits and soft plastics. Hybrid striper are fair on stripe jigs. Crappie are good on minnows in 20–25 feet. Channel catfish are fair on trotlines baited with live perch. Yellow catfish are slow.

O.H. Ivie

Water stained; 81–89 degrees; 41.55′ low. Black bass are good on Zara Spooks and buzzbaits early and late, midday switching to Texas rigs, shakyheads, Carolina rigs and drop shot rigs. Crappie are fair to good on live minnows. White bass are good on slabs and Humdingers. Catfish are fair to good on nightcrawlers and prepared bait.

Lake Proctor

Water stained; 83–87 degrees; 1.42′ low. Black bass are fair on small crankbaits and spinnerbaits. Striped bass are slow. White bass are good on minnows and shad. Crappie are fair on minnows. Channel and blue catfish are good on trotlines and juglines baited with live bait. Yellow catfish are fair on trotlines baited with live bait.
