John H. “Jack” Jones

jones_johnJohn H. “Jack” Jones, age 85, of Blanket, died Thursday evening at the Brownwood Skilled Nursing Home.

Graveside services will be held at 10 AM Monday in the Blanket Cemetery with Rev. Jim Looby officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home of Early. Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 PM on Sunday.

He was born January 5, 1927 in Brownwood the son of the late Adam W. and Agnes Mae Jordan Jones. Following high school , he served in the U. S. Air Corp. from 1945 – 1948 and was married to Emma Jean Eoff at Blanket on March 17, 1947. He graduated from college and worked as a systems analyst for Gulf Oil Company in Houston until his retirement, moving back to Blanket where he had been living for the past 20 years. He was a member of the Blanket Methodist Church and had served as Mayor of Blanket for 18 years.

He is survived by his wife, Emma Jean Jones of Blanket
3 Daughters – Beth Bowyer of Blanket
Ann Costa and husband Vaughn of Brownwood
Jeanie Williams and husband Donnie of Sugar Land
2 Sons – Johnny Jones and wife Gina of Victoria
Chaz Jones and wife Crystal of Fort Worth
7 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren
2 Sisters and 2 Brothers – Juanita McIlhaney of Lometa,
William Ray Jones of Blanket
Leon Jones of Abilene
Leona Henry of Blanket
Several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, J. R. Bowyer and a sister, Annie May McIlhaney.
Memorials are requested to be made to the Blanket United Methodist Church or the donor’s favorite charity.
