Betty Embrey

Betty Lee Embrey, age 83, of Bangs passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at home surrounded by her loved ones.
Funeral Services for Betty will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 1, 2020, at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Lynn Lubke officiating; burial will follow at the Bangs Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.
Betty was born September 28th, 1936, to Clayton Smith and Bessie (Treadwell) Smith in Llano.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. Betty was a Registered Nurse for many years; she was recognized by the book “Who’s Who in American Nursing” for her pioneering work in alcohol and drug abuse. She was an avid animal lover. Betty enjoyed spreading her love of animals, nature and learning through various volunteer opportunities that she shared with her children and grandchildren.
Betty is survived by her two sons and their wives, Dale Allen Embrey and wife Tamara of Bangs, Don Stephen Embrey and wife Rosie of Adkins; grandchildren: John Clayton Embrey and wife Moria of San Saba, Zach and Lori Embrey of San Antonio, Lisa Embrey of Early; sister, Brenda Ford of Bangs; and honorary daughter, Darlene Embrey of San Antonio . She also leaves behind many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
In lieu of flowers, Betty’s Family request donations can be made to your local animal shelter, or Corine T. Smith Animal Center (3016 Milam Dr. Brownwood, Texas 76801). Online condolences for the family are welcome at www.blaylockfuneralhome.com.
