Tommy Dell Jones, beloved husband of Elizabeth Ann Jones, father of David Bryan Jones and Delena Michelle Jones passed away in his home on Friday, July 24, 2020. A visitation will be held Sunday, July 26th from 1 to 3 pm at Heartland Funeral Home in Early. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 27, 2020 at 1:00 PM in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Wolf Valley Cemetery in Rising Star.
Tommy was born on Sunday, November 2, 1947, in Rotan, Texas. Tommy has been a resident of the May Texas community for the last 29 years, and is preceded in death by his parents, Don and Opal Jones, long time residents of the May community. He is survived by his brother Don Jones of Owens, Texas; Vernon Jones of Brownwood, Texas and Charles Jones of Comanche, Texas. Tommy served honorably in the military for 27 years as Chief Petty Officer and received various awards while in the service including Sailor of the Quarter while stationed at Alameda California and Sailor of the Year while at that command.
He will always be remembered for his commitment to his family and his willingness to go to any length to help them when they needed assistance. He was a model father and husband and he will be issed for his sense of humor, his genuine ability to look through all and see the good, and the calm way in which he approached life.
There was never a problem too big for him to tackle and he loved the challenge of fixing broken things, and making things work that others would have thrown away. His face would beam as he told the story of taking something that was so torn and worn and repairing it until it was no longer a damaged thing. He was our Mr. Fixit, whether it was broken people or broken things, he was always ready to ask “What can I do to make it better?”
Rest in Peace and know you were truly loved by your family.
Online condolences can be made to the family at www.heartlandfuneralhome.net.
