A “Gold Rush” of a different kind will hit Brown County schools this fall, helping to raise money for childhood cancer patients and to spread awareness about childhood cancer research during September, which is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

Local schools are being challenged to host football games honoring childhood cancer patients and survivors.  During these games, fundraisers to help support childhood cancer research will also be held.  For more information on hosting a “Gold Rush” game, click here.

According to Brown County’s Hope from the Heart founder Sandra Richardson, at Brownwood High School, football players will wear gold to honor these children, and special honorees will be recognized.  The event will help promote awareness of the need for more research of childhood cancers, which claims so many young lives needlessly each year.

“Gold Rush” t-shirts are available for purchase now, pictured above, and are available for $12-15 (depending on size).  For an order form, please click here. These t-shirts are being sold to help local child cancer patients and their families with travel, food and other expenses seen with costly treatments.
