BJBullockAccording to Brown County Sheriff’s Office, a Brownwood man and school bus driver was arrested around noon Thursday, October 27th shortly after the Brown County Grand Jury indicted him on charges of Indecency with a Child and Injury to a Child.

The investigation was under the direction of BCSO as the alleged incidents occurred within the BCSO’s jurisdiction.  27-year-old Billy James Bullock II was arrested at the Brownwood ISD bus barns very soon after the grand jury reviewed the case against him and indicted him on the charges.  Detective Scott Byrd of BCSO confirmed the arrest.

“This has been a very lengthy investigation with lots of interviews,” said Byrd.

According to Byrd, Student Transportation Specialists (STS), the third party company that contracts the BISD bus service, confirmed Bullock has been terminated based on indictment due to his job’s contact with children.

“He has been terminated, so we don’t have to worry about him driving a bus anymore,” said Byrd.

The charges against Bullock involve two children both under the age of 10 who are not on his bus route, according to Byrd.  The incidents being investigated occurred within the last year according to BCSO officials.

According to BigCountryHomePage.com, STS Director of Operations Ralph Williams confirmed the employment of Bullock as a bus driver and said that the company was aware of the allegations and took Bullock to the law enforcement center to speak with authorities.  Because no charges were filed at that time, he was suspended for one day; however, when the charges were filed, Bullock was terminated, according to Williams.

Williams also confirmed that there are cameras on every bus and that the suspected victim of the indecency charge is not a student and has nothing to do with the bus.

“We will do everything the law will allow us to do to take care of kids,” said Williams

Bullock is currently being held in the Brown County Jail on bonds totaling $50,000.
