Texas Comptroller Susan Combs released sales tax allocation numbers for the month of June with the city of Brownwood posting positive numbers once again.

Brownwood’s sales tax allocations for June 2011 are up 5.99% over June of last year.   The city is continuing to show an increase of 6.39% year-to-date.

Early saw another drop in their sales tax allocations for June which was down 3.23% and continuing a downward trend of 6.15% year-to-date.

Combs will deliver June sales tax allocations of $311.8 million to Texas cities, up 6.6 percent compared to June 2010. So far this calendar year, city sales tax allocations are up 6.3 percent compared to the same period last year.

“Spending in sectors such as the oil and gas industry and manufacturing helped increase state sales tax revenue,” said Combs. “Retail spending also grew. Texas has now had 14 straight months of sales tax revenue increases.”

June sales tax payments represent sales that occurred in April.
