Modene Talley Stanley

StanleyModeneModene Talley Stanley, age 91, of Brownwood passed away Thursday, May 19, 2011.  Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm Sunday, May 21, 2011, in the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel.  Rick Justice will officiate the services.  Burial will follow in Trickham Cemetery.

Modene was born April 11, 1920 in Indian Creek, TX, to Sim and Laura (Ratliff) Clack.  She was a lifelong resident of Brown County and a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church.  Modene’s greatest joy was raising her children and grandchildren.  She was a very family oriented person and loved family gatherings.  Modene was an excellent cook and it is said that “MawMaw” made the greatest pecan pie ever.

Mrs. Stanley is survived by three daughters; Norma Denison of Brownwood, Frances Kelly and husband Tommy of Early, and Simmie Reynolds and husband Nathan of Brownwood, eight grandchildren; Kathy Hampton and husband Robert of Lake Belton, Vikki Firth and husband Chris of Brownwood, Tammy Eoff and husband Alvis of Brownwood, Cliff Denison and wife Robin of Brownwood, Rhonda Kelly Petty of Flower Mound, Matt Kelly and wife Dawn of Austin, Travis Reynolds and wife Pam of Early, and Laura Thornhill and husband Justin of Early, one sister; Gladys Mahan of Brownwood, twenty great-grandchildren, ten great-great-grandchildren, and four other nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Stanley was preceded in death by two husbands; Segial Talley and William “Bill” Stanley, a son-in-law Cliffard Denison, and two sisters; Lucille Herring and Sybil Johnson.
