Brown County Rodeo events kick off this weekend with a cookoff Friday and Saturday and a member appreciation BBQ on Saturday.

The 2nd Annual BCFA Cook-off will be held June 1-2 at the Brown County Fair Grounds.  Special Guest TLC’s Charlie Trigg, aka “the Godfather,” will be a special guest along with Jamie Greer and his famous Jambo Pits grills.

First place in the cookoff will receive a trophy and box seats for all three nights of the rodeo (10 tickets each night valued at $300).  An optional jackpot entry of beans and pork spare ribs will also be offered in the cookoff.  Briskets must be turned in at 2:00pm Saturday.   For more information about the BBQ Cook-off, please call or text “Guy” at 325-642-3131.

Members of the Brown County Fair Association are invited to an appreciation dinner on Saturday, June 2nd from 6-8pm at the Homemaking Building at the fairgrounds.  The meal will consist of brisket and all the trimmings.  Members and family eat free.  Non-members may also attend; dinner tickets are $20 at the door.

The week of rodeo events will culminate with the 49th Annual Brown County Rodeo which will take place June 7-9 at the Brown County Fair Grounds each night beginning at 8:00pm.  KRBC’s Randy Turner will return once again as the announcer and will be joined by clown “Slim Garner.”  Rodeo stock will be provided by Terry Walls. Rodeo contestants from all over the world will be at the rodeo including past and present World Champions.

The 49th Annual Brown County Rodeo Parade will take place on Saturday, June 9th at 10am in Downtown Brownwood.   Entry forms for the parade are available at the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce or online at http://www.browncountyfairandrodeo.com.

The Brown County Rodeo dance will close out rodeo week on June 9th.  This year’s dance will feature Pauline Reece.  Dance tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.  Advance tickets in Brownwood are available at KOXE, TexasBank, Scott’s Western Wear, and Citizen’s National Bank.   Doors open at the Brownwood Coliseum for the dance at 8pm on Saturday, June 9th.

So mark your calendars and plan to attend Brown County Rodeo events over the next week.
