2012HOTQuiltShowThe Brownwood Quilters’ Guild, the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce and Mills County State Bank will be sponsoring the 8th Annual Quilt Show on April 28-29 at the Brownwood Coliseum.  Show hours are Saturday from 10:00am-5:00pm and Sunday from 12:00pm-4:00pm.

Admission is $7 for quilters, husbands and children under 12 admitted free of charge.

There will be over 150 quilts on display, door prizes, a donation quilt (a portion of the proceeds benefits the Latch Key Program), vendors, demonstrations, old fashion bed turning, the Quilt shop hop, and a workshop and lecture.

Workshops are available Saturday and Sunday from 8:30am-12:00pm and cost $50 per person, cost includes a kit for the class.  Kate Ackley from Bastrop, Texas will be teaching the workshops and also presenting a lecture and trunk show at 2:30pm on Saturday afternoon at the show on the history of quilting.

Quilters are not limited to the number of quilts that they may enter; however, the Brownwood Quilters’ Guild does ask quilters not to enter a quilt that has been entered a previous show if it won in its category or if it won Best of Show.  A new category has been added this year, it is a theme category.  This year’s theme is “Friendship Across Texas” and features quilts containing the friendship star block.  Quilts with this block, should be entered in this category.

The show is a viewer’s choice with special awards – Brownwood Mayor’s Choice, Early Mayor’s Choice, HPU President’s Choice and Guild Choice.  The quilt receiving the most Favorite Overall votes will be the 2012 Best of Show.  New this year, the Feathered Star Quilt Shop in Clyde, Texas will be providing a $25.00 gift certificate to the winner of the Best of Show and the Judge’s Choice Award.
