Emergency responders were called to the scene of an accident near the corner of Avenue D and 11th Street, shortly before 5pm Thursday, involving a vehicle that struck a tree.  The male driver of the vehicle was transported to the emergency room for his injuries.

Brownwood Police officers investigating the scene stated that the Ford Explorer was traveling southwest on Avenue D when its driver made a wide u-shaped turn traveling through a fence and hitting a tree with the front of the vehicle.

The extent of the male driver’s condition was unknown at the time of the accident.  Fire crews had to cut a piece of pipe which was stuck into the back passenger window to remove it.

Brownwood Police and Fire Departments along with Guardian EMS responded to the scene.
