Wade Brown of May, Texas officially filed as a candidate for U.S. Congress, Texas’ District 11 at the State Republican Party Headquarters Thursday afternoon.

The Brown County resident, a major in the Marine Corps Reserve, said his filing is “the culmination of a decision I made a year and a half ago while deployed to Africa.”

Concerned about the burgeoning national debt, Mr. Brown returned to his native Texas in 2011 to run against four-term incumbent Mike Conaway. “Our current Representative has voted for over $3.1 trillion in debt limit increases. We just can’t do that anymore,” said Mr. Brown of the incumbent.

The revamped Texas’ Congressional 11th District stretches from Hood County in the east to Ector County in the west. “I waited to file until the interim maps were settled,” said Mr. Brown. “The new maps and the May 29th primary both greatly favor our campaign.”

Mr. Brown originally announced his candidacy in the Brownwood Bulletin in August of 2011, less than a month after he left active duty. More information is available at his website, www.wadebrown2012.com.

Pursuant to paragraph 4.3.1.2 of Department of Defense Directive 1344.10, the following disclaimer is posted. Wade Brown is a major in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. Use of his military rank, job titles, and photographs in uniform does not imply endorsement of the United States Marine Corps, the Department of the Navy, or the Department of Defense.
