Law Enforcement Blotter 11/2: Teens Arrested in Theft of Air Conditioners in Early

Early Chief of Police David Mercer reported a theft of air conditioners that led to the arrest of two teenagers last Wednesday. 

On October 26, Officer Brandon McMillian received a call reporting someone was stealing air conditioners in the 100 block of Salt Creek Drive. The caller, an employee of Atmos Energy Company, witnessed the theft and reported the incident to 911.

After taking the air conditioners, the individuals then stopped at a mechanic shop in the same area and stole two car batteries from the business, according to Mercer.

Officer McMillian and Sgt. Shawn Dibrell located the suspect vehicle near Heartland Mall. The owner of the property was located and confirmed that no one had permission to take the items, police reports state. 17-year-old Wyatt Thomas Hughes of Early and 19-year-old Patrick Thomas Holeman of Brownwood were placed under arrest and taken to the Brown County Jail. Both were charged with Theft of Copper, Aluminum, Bronze which is a state jail felony.

Tuesday, November 1

*9:59am-Brownwood Police were called to the 2100 block of 12th Street regarding terroristic threat.  According to the report, the complainant stated that his wife was threatening to have him arrested; however during an investigation, it was determined that both parties were arguing and no arrest was made.

*11:36am-Brownwood Police were called to the 2100 block of 12th Street regarding a possible domestic disturbance.  Dispatch advised officers that a male and female had been verbally arguing outside a residence and the female had left in a vehicle, the report states.  The male was located by officers and interviewed.  Investigation showed that no physical violence had occurred.  Officers were unable to speak with the female after several attempts were made to contact her.

*2:00pm-Brownwood Police responded to a domestic disturbance in the 1500 block of Davis Lane.  Communications advised the officers that a caller at one of the apartments reported hearing subjects yelling.  After speaking with both parties, it was found that no physical violence occurred. 

*4:13pm-A Brownwood Police detective and a BPD officer conducted a traffic stop in the downtown business district, 400 block of Fisk Avenue.  According to the report, when officers spoke with the driver, identified as 22-year-old Jett Louis Miller, an odor of marijuana could be detected from the interior of the vehicle, the police report states.   The vehicle was subsequently searched for marijuana and the officers located a small amount of the substance along with a small amount of synthetic cannabinoid inside the vehicle.  Miller was subsequently arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana less than 2 oz. and Possession of a Controlled Substance no in Penalty Grade (K2).

*7:39pm-Brownwood Police received a report of a burglary in the 2500 block of 1st Street.  Charges are being pursued.

*11:35pm-Brownwood Police received a report via phone call of a theft which had occurred in the 2700 block of Elizabeth.  An investigation of theft greater than $1500 less than $20,000 was initiated.

Wednesday, November 2

*Brownwood Police received a report of a theft that had just occurred at a Food Plaza.  Investigation showed that an unknown actor stole two 30 packs of beer and left the store.  No suspect information was available; however the complainant stated that surveillance video, which will be reviewed, may show footage of the theft.

All arrestees are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
