The Howard Payne University men’s soccer team recorded their first shutout of the season with a 2-0 victory over McMurry University Saturday afternoon.

Howard Payne’s Shane Cazad scored his 12th and 13th goals of the season to give the Yellow Jackets the 2-0 win over McMurry.

Cazad’s first was in the 15th minute on an assist from Reese Lawson from the outside left. He scored his second of the day in the 81st minute on a Jaime Benitez assist from the midfield.

Howard Payne is now 6-6 overall and 5-6 in ASC play, while McMurry falls to 1-13 overall and 0-9 in conference.

The Yellow Jackets will play next at home on Tuesday versus the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.

The Howard Payne Univesity women’s soccer team’s offensive output was just to much for McMurry University as the Lady Jackets win 6-0 recording their fifth shutout of the year Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Jackets got a two goal performance from Shannon Costello. She also scored the only goal for HPU in Friday’s match versus Hardin-Simmons.

Howard Payne also got goals from Amanda Jenkins, Leslie Jones, Erica Lopez and Allison Harp. Lauren Hankins-Hatch, Emily Nutt, Jones and Lopez recorded assists in the match.

Howard Payne improves to 7-4 overall and 6-3 in ASC play, while McMUrry falls to 4-9 overall and 2-7 in conference.

The Lady Jackets will play next on Tuesday at home versus Mary Hardin-Baylor.
