Howard Payne University’s Homecoming celebration will take place this week and one of the featured events will be performances of the musical South Pacific.
The musical will be held at the university’s Mims Auditorium. Show times are Thursday, Friday and Saturday (October 13 – 14 -15) from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults and $4 for students.
Set in an island paradise during World War II, two parallel love stories are threatened by the dangers of prejudice and war. The cast includes HPU students, faculty, staff and members of the community.
Drs. Gregory and Celeste Church, associate professors of music, are directing the performance. Dr. Nancy Jo Humfeld, Chair of the Department of Communication and Drama, is the choreographer and Nick Ewen, assistant professor of theatre, is the technical director.
