RobinsonJohnDavidSrJohn David “J. D.” Robinson, Sr., age 77, of Lake Brownwood, died at his home Sunday night.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Friday in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow on the family farm near Bangs. Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.

He was born September 21, 1934 in Tribbe, Oklahoma the son of the late Hughie and Evie Hawthorn Robinson. He worked as a tree surgeon for many years and was married to Pauline Martin in Texas on August 7, 1954. They moved to Brown County in 1979 and later owned and operated J. D.’s Swap Shop near Lake Brownwood.

J. D. as most knew him, was a very kind and generous man and was a Good Samaritan to many helping them out in time of need. He loved to hunt deer on his farm and tell tells of the “big one” he saw. He loved to make deer sausage and his family remembers it being very tasty. He was a loving husband and father and quite a prankster at times, enjoying life and having fun. He also had a stubborn side at times as well.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline of Lake Brownwood

His children, John David Robinson, Jr. and wife Oki of San Antonio, Linda Robinson of Sulphur Springs, Douglas Robinson and wife Alice of Grand Prairie, Rebecca Reed and husband Guy of Lewisville, Tony Robinson and wife Justine of Trinity, and Tracy Robinson and wife Marie of New Boston

18 Grandchildren and 27 Great Grandchildren as well as several great great grandchildren survive.

He is also survived by 5 Sisters, Pearl Dudek, Haneva Simmons, Lee King, Lois Green, and Louise Harris and 3 Brothers, Jim, Joe and Charlie Paul Hawthorn.

A host of nieces and nephews also survive.
