As the first day of school approaches, so does the long awaited 2011 Brownwood Lions football season. Players and coaches officially began practice on Monday, August 1st at the Brownwood High School practice field.
As this new team of Lions work to take the field this season, the coaching staff had a few changes this year bringing in Andy Howard as the co-defensive coordinator and secondary coach, Bryce Monsen will be defensive line coach, Bryan Clark is over running backs, and Jim Taylor will take tight ends and inside receivers.
The Lions are set to practice in full pads this Friday. Preseason play starts Friday, August 12 in Eastland with the first regular season game against Gatesville on August 26 at Gordon Wood Stadium. Meet the Lions, where all fall sports teams will be introduced to the public, will be held on August 22.
