BFD: Fire & Rescue Reports 7/18

BFDlogoSmallReports released for the week of July 10th through July 16th from the Brownwood Fire Department indicate responses to 25 medical emergencies, 1 motor vehicle accidents, 8 fire calls, and one public assistance call.

Calls of interest included:

Sunday, July 10

*11:15pm – BFD responded to a fire call in the 1000 block of Center Avenue.  An alarm system activated due to a fog machine.  The alarm was reset.

Monday, July 11

*Abilene Fire Department responded to calls and managed Station 1 to help during Lt. Stone’s funeral.  Coleman Fire Department also assisted by manning Station 2 Monday.

*4:25pm – BFD was called to an electrical problem in the 2300 block of Avenue B.  Fire crews arrived on scene to find arcing electrical wiring.  The power was shut off.

Tuesday, July 12

*2:13pm – BFD responded to a two vehicle accident with injuries in the 300 block of Bluffview. Firefighters assisted with packaging and loading of patient who was transported to Brownwood Regional Medical Center.

Wednesday, July 13

*12:52pm – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the area of Avenue C and Cottage.  Firefighters arrived on scene to find a trailer fully involved.  The owner advised it was used to spray foam insulation and it did have volatile chemicals inside.  A bumper line was deployed and used to bring fire under control.  Foam was also used on smoldering equipment.

*11:06pm – BFD investigated the smell of smoke in the 400 block of W. Lee Street. Fire crews arrived to find tripped breaker from short circuit wiring.  The thermal camera was used and everything was clear.  The landlord was advised that an electrician needed to be contacted.  Electricity was off.

Thursday, July 14

*9:44am – BFD responded to a brush fire in the 2900 block of Milam Drive.  Crews arrived on scene to find about an acre of fire in an area of heavy brush.  Firefighters extinguished the fire and performed heavy mop up.

*3:24pm – Brush Fire 3101 Stephen F. Austin.  Fire crews arrived on scene to find about 1 acre heavy fire in thick brush spreading quickly.  The fire was extinguished and firefighters performed mop up.

Friday, July 15

*2:33am – BFD was dispatched to a brush fire in the 7000 block of FM 3100 where they assisted Early Volunteer Fire Department with a grass fire.  The fire was knocked down quickly. Several small grass fires were in this area and all fires will be under investigation.

Saturday, July 16

*6:35pm – BFD responded to a lock-in at a residence in the 2100 block of 8th Street.  A baby was locked in a vehicle.  Firefighters assisted the Brownwood Police Department with unlocking the car.

*8:55pm – BFD was called to a trash fire in the 1900 block of Avenue D.  Firefighters performed fire extinguishment and informed residents of city burn ban/codes.
