According to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation website, the Social Security Administration Office – currently located at the Heartland Mall in Early – will be moving to the former site of the Brownwood Bulletin at 700 Carnegie.

The start date for renovations to the 4,515 square foot building is set for July 1, with a completion date by the end of the 2026 calendar year.

Work will consist of demise, remodel and build to suit for government office use, including interior partitions, drop ceiling, mill work, restrooms, lobbies, private offices, final finishes and custom furnishings, according to the website. The parking lot area will also be resurfaced and re-striped.

The estimated cost for the renovations is $1.2 million.

The registration date of the project was Monday, May 18.
