Tommy Jennings, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and respected member of the community, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at his residence in San Angelo, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 20, 1950, in Coleman, Texas, Tommy’s life was deeply rooted in the values and traditions of his hometown and the vast landscapes of South Texas where he was raised.

Tommy graduated from Coleman High School, carrying forward a spirit of dedication that would define both his personal and professional life. He embarked on a long and prosperous career that started in the oil fields. Tommy then started truck driving for Gypsum Transport, driving for several years and then started hauling cattle for Jennings Trucking. His work took him across many roads and states, where he made countless friends and was held in the highest regard by his colleagues. Despite the demands of his career, it was his passion for ranching and the open fields that brought him the most joy. Tommy’s love and respect for the land and his cattle were more than just hobbies; they were a way of life and a source of great satisfaction.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Tommy was known as a fun and loving person who cherished his family above all else. He enjoyed hosting cookouts and making lasting memories with his loved ones. A devoted father, he was particularly proud of taking his sons to the rodeo and his active role as the Bull Riding Director for the Texas High School Rodeo Association, where he helped nurture and guide young rodeo talents. Tommy also found leisure in watching western shows, with “Gunsmoke” holding a special place in his heart.

Tommy married Lynda Spikes in 1970 in Coleman. Their 27 years together reflected a deep commitment and shared life filled with love and mutual respect. He is preceded in death by his devoted parents, Arthur Vollie Jennings and Gussie Dunn Sparkman Jennings, and his brother, Rodney Jennings.

Tommy leaves behind a rich legacy through his surviving family who will dearly miss his warmth and kindness. He is survived by his children, Stacy Jennings and wife Diane, Royce Jennings and wife Janelle, Tim Neal and wife Paula. His grandchildren—Hayden Jennings, Whitney Jennings, Adgie Neal, and Augustus Neal—were the light of his life and brought him immense pride and happiness. He is also remembered fondly by his brothers, Arthur Jennings and Galan Jennings and wife Jeri Lou, as well as his sister-in-law, Nancy Jennings.

The family will host a visitation on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service celebrating his life at 4:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman. Interment will follow in the Mt. View Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Hayden Jennings, Whitney Jennings, Adgie Neal, Augustus Neal, Robert Barnett, and Wayne Gray.

Tommy Jennings’s life was a testament to hard work, family devotion, and a profound connection to the land and community he so deeply loved. He will be remembered with great respect and affection by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
