EULA – The No. 7 May Tigers took the lead in the top of the seventh inning of Game 2 of their Class A Region I baseball semifinals series against No. 2 Hamlin, but the Pied Pipers scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to walk off with a 4-3 victory.

The loss ended the season for May (16-3), which entered the third round of the playoffs having won 15 consecutive contests. Hamlin (18-1) advances to the Class A Region I championship round.

Knotted at 2 in the top of the seventh inning, May forged in front as Lane Goodson singled with one out, stole second bases, and with two outs Kobey Morris doubled to left field to push the Tigers ahead, 3-2.

In the bottom of seventh, however, Hamlin’s Ian Gruben walked with one out, Derrick Lechuga and Hagan Holland were then hit by pitches in succession to load the bases, and Ian Hutchins drew a game-tying walk. The contest then ended when Javier Ramos was plunked by a pitch with the sacks still full of Pied Pipers.

May outhit Hamlin 6-4 as Goodson singled twice, Morris doubled, and Cayson Dail, Jackson Lusk and Kayden Psencik each contributed a single.

On the mound for the Tigers, Morris, Goodson and Hunter Seider combined to yield four earned runs on four hits with nine strikeouts, seven walks and four hit batters.

Trailing 2-0 after one inning, May closed the gap to 2-1 in the top of the second as Lusk was hit by a pitch, stole both second base and third base, then scored when Psencik reached on a dropped third strike, which forced a throw down to first base.

The Tigers evened the score at 2 in the top of the fourth as, with two outs, Maddix Raffel walked, Psencik singled, and Dail delivered an RBI single to left field.
