The May Tigers placed fourth at the Class A boys golf state tournament, while the Goldthwaite Eagles came in ninth place at the Class 2A boys golf state tournament, which both concluded Tuesday.

May tallied a 726 team score – following its opening 367 Monday with a closing 359 Tuesday – at Crystal Falls Golf Course in Leander, finishing two shots back of Wildorado (726) and Knippa (726), who decided second and third place in a playoff. Garden City (717) captured the state title, while Wildorado was the playoff winner and finished as the runner-up.

The Tigers were sparked Kobey Morris, who also finished in a tie for fourth place with a 162 total following rounds of 83 Monday and 79 Tuesday. Hunter Corman of Wildorado (147), Bo Bradley of Texline (151), and Froylan Agundiz of Springlake Earth (158) captured the medals, while Brayden Claborn (162) of Blackwell also shared the fourth-place spot.

The rest of the May team consisted of Mikey Scheriger (93-86=179), Hunter Seider (91-94=185), Justin McKenzie (100-100=200), and Kaden Watkins (106-100=206).

Also at the Class A tournament, Sidney’s Grant Torres posted a 171 total with rounds of 79 and 92, and Zephyr’s Slade Butler tallied a 197 with rounds of 96 and 101.

Goldthwaite recorded a 672 team score at Lions Municipal Golf Course in Austin following Monday’s 339 with a 333 Tuesday. Mildred (597) won the state championship, followed by Crawford (605), and Mason (617).
