
On Saturday, April 11, Brookesmith High School One Act Play competed in the Area 1, Region 4- 1A contest held at University High School in Waco. They performed scenes from “The Bridegroom of Blowing Rock” by Catherine Trieschmann, earning strong praise and high marks from the judging panel, as well as a chance to compete again at regionals.
The company was recognized for both its technical excellence and outstanding performance. Brookesmith received the Best Crew Award, highlighting the team’s behind-the-scenes cooperation and craftsmanship.
Several students were honored for their individual performances. Aryn Ribble and Blake Loyd were named to the Honorable Mention All-Star Cast, while Caleb Bradley and Emma Slayton earned spots on the All-Star Cast. Aidyn Barnett received one of the contest’s highest individual honors, being named Best Performer.
Brookesmith is now among the top 24 1A One Act plays in the state. They will compete at the Region 4 1A contest on April 25 at Blinn College in Brenham. A win in Brenham would allow Brookesmith to compete at the State Meet in Austin for the first time in the school’s history.
