Tamara Lee Mills, a devoted wife and mother, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2026, in San Angelo, Texas. Born on October 31, 1957, in San Angelo, Tamara’s journey through life was marked by courage, dedication, and a profound love for both her family and her work.
Tamara’s early years were spent in Dallas, where she graduated from Lake Highlands High School. Demonstrating remarkable determination and pioneering spirit, she became the first female paramedic in West Texas in 1984, a trailblazing achievement that set the tone for her career in healthcare. Her commitment to the medical field continued as she earned her LVN license and subsequently her RN license, embodying a tireless dedication to the wellbeing of others.
In 1999, Tamara married Bobby Neal in Coleman, beginning a partnership that lasted 27 years. Together, they shared a life enriched by varied experiences across Texas, including time spent living in Dallas, Coleman, and San Antonio before settling in Brady, where she lived for the last seven years. Throughout these years, Tamara was a member of the First United Methodist Church, finding strength and community in her faith.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Tamara had a deep passion for horseback riding and barrel racing. Her greatest personal achievement was the remarkable skill she displayed in breaking wild horses to be ridden, a testament to her spirit of perseverance and connection to the natural world.
Tamara is lovingly survived by her husband, Bobby Neal; her children, Crockett Mills of Austin and Robin Mills of Coleman; and her cherished grandchildren, Entwistle Moon Mills of Austin, Sean Mills of Coleman, and Austin Goodale of Coleman. She is also remembered fondly by her nephews John Allen Crockett, II and Marcus Crockett of Dallas, and Charlie Crockett of Coleman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Allen Crockett and Patsy Freda Sackett Crockett, as well as her brother, Allen Crockett. Tamara’s legacy is one of pioneering determination, devoted family love, and heartfelt service to her community. Her memory will be treasured by all who knew her.
At Tamara’s request, no formal service will be held. She will be cremated. Arrangements have been entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 West Pecan Street, in Coleman.
