The Early Police Department issued the following press release Thursday afternoon:

On Saturday, 04/04/2026, officers responded to the 1000 block of Early Blvd regarding a domestic assault where a male was assaulting a female. Upon the officers’ arrival, Steven Benson ran from the location and attempted to evade the officers. Officers pursued Benson and detained him for further investigation. According to the victim and 3 witnesses from other mobile homes, Benson struck the victim several times and grabbed her around the neck, pushing her against a vehicle. Benson was placed under arrest and charged with continuous violence against a family member due to recent incidents of family violence, Violation of bond conditions from a prior family violence arrest, and evading arrest when Benson ran from officers and failed to stop when ordered.
