
The Brownwood Police Department issued the following press release Wednesday afternoon:
On Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at approximately 7:34 p.m., Brownwood police officers were dispatched to 1500 Terrace Drive on a report of a male threatening people with a handgun. A description of the suspect was provided to responding officers.
Officers arrived on scene and a male subject matching the provided description fled on foot from one of the officers. A foot pursuit was initiated and the suspect, Monty Wiley, of Brownwood, was apprehended.
An investigation was conducted and numerous witnesses reported seeing Wiley in possession of a handgun. Additionally, prior to fleeing, Wiley threatened a victim with a gun while other witnesses were present, and he was intoxicated at the time.
Wiley was charged with:
- Evading Arrest with Previous Conviction
- Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon
- Public Intoxication
A Pardon and Parole warrant was also against Wiley for parole violations. He was served this warrant while in jail.
