The UIL on Wednesday revealed its soccer realignment for 2026-27, and the Brownwood Lady Lions and Lions will have much tougher roads to district championships the next two seasons.

No longer is Brownwood in District 5-4A, and the Lady Lions and Lions will no longer face Lampasas, Gatesville and Little River Academy.

Brownwood instead is moving to District 8-4A, with the lone holdover being Stephenville, while the rest of the league will feature Alvarado, Godley, Hillsboro, Kennedale, Venus, and Waxahachie Life.

Half of the eight-team district will advance to the postseason and on the girls side, six teams made the playoffs this year with two – Godley and Waxahachie Life – still playing in the state semifinals in 4A Division I and 4A Division II.

On the boys side, five teams advanced to the postseason this year, though none of the teams reached the state semifinals.

The Lady Lions, under head coach Alexis Mosqueda Walker, are coming off a program-best 18-4-1 record, a second straight district championship, and matched their deepest postseason run in school history.

The Lions, under head coach Michael Westerman, just wrapped up a 15-2-2 campaign, also the best in program history, with their first district title since 2013 and first-ever appearance in a regional championship game.
