Brownwood High School (BHS) HOSA (Future Health Professionals) students earned several awards at the Texas HOSA State Leadership Conference, held March 23-26 in Corpus Christi. Nine BHS students participated in the annual conference during the organization’s landmark 50th “Golden Anniversary,” and all nine earned awards.
The 2026 conference proved to be a record-breaking year for Brownwood HOSA, particularly in the area of academic honors. Six graduating seniors were awarded HOSA scholarships totaling more than $35,000. “This is the highest total BHS has received in scholarships to date,” noted BHS Health Science teacher Annalyn Deen. The scholarship recipients include Kyle Recolizado, Hannah Deen, Makayla Holland, Kaylie Valdez, Emory Mauy, and Kylan Perkins.
In addition, BHS students were recognized for their dedication to community wellness through the Barbara James Service Award. Three students received this honor for contributing over 100 hours of community service: Kaylie Valdez, Jaxson Delgado, and Braylon Chairez Franklin.
BHS HOSA also applauded Kyle Recolizado, who took the stage securing a 4th-place finish in the Pharmacy Science category.
The HOSA journey continues for Kaylie Valdez and Jaleah Brew, who placed in the top 10% of the Health Care Issues Exam. This achievement allows them to advance to the International Leadership Conference scheduled for June 17-20, 2026, at the Indianapolis Convention Center in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Brownwood ISD is proud of these students, their hard work, and congratulates them on their achievements!
