Neva Luene Lord Nichols, 83, was born on January 30, 1943 to Ross Henry (Tid) Lord and Geneva Eckert Lord Barrett in Richland Springs,Texas and departed this earthly life on March 25, 2026. Luene was raised on a dirt farm off the Cotton Belt Road in Richland Springs where life was about hard work. She learned the value of working at an early age, she even picked cotton as a small child to make extra money to buy her mother (Memaw) a red Pyrex porcelain mixing bowl as a gift.

That work ethic shaped her life and she did it with a joy that few can match. She developed a love for cooking and feeding people, a skill learned from her mother. If you showed up at Mom’s house around lunch you better be hungry and you better like chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, and gravy.

She deeply loved her family and was very passionate about everyone coming together to visit, especially each year at Thanksgiving where she and her sister, Vynoma coordinated feasts for at least 50 people every year. That love of helping others spilled over into her work life where she planned and took busloads of people on road trips to Nashville and Branson. More than once she opened our doors to someone who needed a home for a while. Many cherished memories were made that impacted not only their lives but ours as well.

She loved the outdoors and all animals. If there was a stray around, they had found a home. Hummingbirds, oh how she loved to sit and watch the Hummingbirds.

She is survived by her husband, Charlie “Boyd” Nichols of Temple, her only son, Brad Williams (Cissy) of San Saba, her grandson, Ross Williams (Kaitlyn) of San Saba, her stepchildren, Michelle Nichols Brooks (Michael) of Coppell,Tx, grandson, Chaz Brooks and Douglas Nichols of Irving, Tx.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Hollis Lord and Owen Lord and nieces, Cheryl Lord Clark and Kay Lord Stump.

Graveside service will be held on Monday March 30, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Richland Springs City Cemetery.

If a memorial is preferred, they can be made to the Richland Springs City Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Eddie Lord, Donnie Lord, Brian Lord, Jonathan Lord, Reagan McKinnerney, Owen Joe Johnson, Regen Kirk, and Bobby Skeeters.

Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of San Saba.
