Otis Leon Hudson, 84, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2026, in Brownwood, Texas. He was born on June 23, 1941, in Lamesa, Texas. Otis lived and worked all his life in Lamesa before moving to Early, Texas in 2017 to be closer to family.

Otis worked for the Texas Department of Transportation in Dawson County for 30 years. After retirement, he fulfilled his dream of RVing. He and his wife, Jimmie, traveled to many states experiencing the beauty of God’s creation, and, of course, fishing was high on his list of priorities. He especially loved catching trout in Colorado and crappie in Texas lakes.

Otis always had plenty of fishing buddies, including his son, son-in-law, and many friends. He never met a stranger-everyone was his friend. Another great joy in his life was looking at cars, both new and classic. His greatest love was his family, and he always cherished family gatherings. The fellowship was wonderful, but he never forgot about the food-another of his passions.

Otis’s greatest joy was knowing Jesus as his savior and making sure everyone he met heard about his Jesus.

Otis is survived by his wife, Jimmie, of 64 years; and (in Otis’s words) his number one daughter, Ronda, and her husband, Dwaine Baugus, of Bangs, Texas; and (in Otis’s words) his number one son, Steven Hudson, and his wife, Kim, of Abilene, Texas. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Lacie Duncan (Justin) of Bangs, Texas; Misty Fuqua of Bangs, Texas; and Kimberlee Sides (Ricky) of Big Spring, Texas; and his great-grandchildren: Luke, Ryan, and Jace Duncan; Cloey Petty; Braedon Kennedy; and Rebecca and Daniel Romines.

Otis was preceded in death by his parents, J.C. and Ruth Hudson of Throckmorton, Texas; his brothers, Glen, Harold, and Dale Hudson; and one sister, Sharon Raines.

Otis left a legacy of love for his family and friends to follow. He will be remembered for his kindness, unwavering integrity, love for his family, and his knack for never meeting a stranger. Otis always had a smile on his face and a word of encouragement for everyone he met.

His answer for all of life’s problems was his favorite saying: “It Will All Be Alright!”

Friends and family are invited to participate in a Celebration of Life on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church, 103 Salt Creek Drive, Brownwood, TX 76802
