Edward Henley Yantis, 59, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on March 20, 2026.

A Celebration of Life will be held on March 28, 2026 at 11:00 am at First Methodist Church, Brownwood.

Edward was born in Brownwood, TX, on August 4, 1966, to Tom and Kathleen (Muff) Yantis. He was raised in Brownwood and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing trumpet in the Brownwood High School Mighty Maroon Marching Band. Edward began his college career at Texas A&M University in the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band, then graduated from Tarleton State University in 1990 with a degree in Business and Finance.

He married Lorenna (Ren) Bird on August 11, 1990. They were blessed with two daughters, Marjorie (Maggie) Yantis and Kathleen (Kate) Yantis.

Edward was a Master Mason for 38 years and was a member of and held leadership positions in DeMolay, Blue Lodge, Scottish Rite, Commandry, and Shriners.

He retired in 2023 after 30 years in education, including positions at Early ISD as Business Manager, Director of Technology, and classroom teacher, and at Brownwood ISD as Director of Technology and classroom teacher. Some of his favorite times were collaborating with his students on their classroom music playlists.

The Yantis Family is an avid supporter of the arts. Both girls love participating in music and theatre, and Edward loved supporting them in their activities, eventually becoming involved in Brownwood Lyric Theatre productions alongside his children. Edward and Ren started the Yantis Family Endowment in an effort to support the Lyric’s summer camps and programs.

Edward is survived by his wife, Ren Yantis, children Maggie Yantis, Kate Yantis Lopez and husband Zaiden Lopez, siblings John Yantis, and Kathleen Brandon and husband Tom Brandon, and many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Muff Yantis.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Brownwood Lyric Theatre Yantis Family Endowment in Edward’s memory.

Online condolences, memories and tributes can be made to the family at www.heartlandfuneralhome.net
