Early Lady Horns 9, Tolar 2

EARLY – The Early Lady Horns kept their unblemished District 8-3A softball record intact with a 9-2 victory over Tolar Friday, their ninth win in a row.

The Lady Horns (17-4, 6-0) lead 1-0 after one inning, 7-0 after two, and 9-0 through five, while Tolar scored its runs in the top of the sixth.

The 11-hit onslaught for Early included three from Kyleigh Caperton, who homered, tripled and drove in two; two from Andie Simpson, who tripled and knocked in one; a pair from Aleeya McCombs, who doubled and tallied an RBI; a double and two RBIs from Jaime Lyon; a single and an RBI from Adysn Atchley; and one hit each from Sunny Groom and Jamie Vassar. The Lady Horns were also aided by five Tolar errors.

In the circle, Groom surrendered two runs – none earned – on five hits with eight strikeouts and four walks. The Early defense was charged with three errors.

The Lady Horns next visit Dublin at 5 p.m. Tuesday
