
STEPHENVILLE – The Brownwood Lions won the team championship at the Stephenville Knights of Columbus golf tournament Tuesday at Legends Golf Course defeating runner-up, host, and District 6-4A rival Stephenville by 27 strokes.
The Lions carded a composite score of 325 to the 352 for the Yellow Jackets.
Leading the charge for Brownwood was Will Stewardson, who placed second overall with a round of 80, followed by Layton Kemp with an 81, Peyton Sharp and Ryker Calvert with 82s, and Sheriff Jones with an 87.
The Lions ‘B’ team placed fourth in the final team standings with a 362 score. The squad was comprised of Grant Gray, who turned in an 86, along with Judson Coalson with an 89, Carson Noe with a 90, Elijah Waldrop with a 97, and Bennett Windham with a 100.
Competing as a medalist, Jacob Orton fired a round of 107 for Brownwood.
The next action for the Lions and Lady Lions comes Tuesday, March 17 at the Bluebonnet Invitational at Brownwood Country Club.
