EARLY — A drone show featuring 200 drones flying over the Early Town Center?

The show — put on by a company called Sky Elements — is among the activities planned for the March 28 grand opening of the Early Town Center Boardwalk, Early City Administrator Tony Aaron announced at the city council meeting Tuesday.

Aaron first talked about the ribbon cutting for the boardwalk, which will begin at 3 p.m. on March 27.

“We’ve sent out invitations and are getting RSVP’s back,” Aaron said. “It seems like there’s going to be quite a few people that are going to show up for that.

The ribbon cutting will feature several speakers, and the representatives of the Early and Brownwood chambers of commerce will attend.

“We’ll have Texas Parks and Wildlife. Our engineer would like to say some words,” Aaron said.

Aaron went on to describe the events of the grand opening ceremony a day later, on Saturday, March 28. The first 1,000 people who show up will receive $10 vouchers for the food truck, Aaron said.

“Remember, Major League Fishing’s going to be here all that week, and they’ll have things going on Saturday,” Aaron said. He listed events at the grand opening including bounce houses, food trucks, cornhole, live music by The Remedy and B Flat Dueling Pianos and a car and motorcycle show.

“Major League Fishing’s doing a watch party and interviewing the top ten anglers at 5 o’clock? Our live music will start at 6.

“We stop at 8 for a live drone show. We’ll have 200 drones that will fly off from the ground on the west side of the boardwalk and perform about a 12-to-15 minute show with music. And then as they’re landing, we’ll have fireworks that will go off as the finale of that show.

“The drone show is a big draw. Nobody’s ever seen one at Brown County. And so there’s a lot of people excited about that.”

Aaron said the drone and fireworks shows have been paid for by sponsors and VIP table sales.
