Linda Jean Cameron Sloan, age 84, of San Saba passed away Friday, February 27, 2026 at San Saba Nursing and Rehabilitation. Linda spent the last eight months being lovingly cared for at the facility enjoying frequent visits from family and friends.

Linda was born April 1, 1941 in San Saba to Dougal and Sara Jean Cameron. She grew up in San Saba and graduated from San Saba High School in 1959. Following a semester of study at Texas Tech University, Linda married the love of her life Wilson Allan (Bill) Sloan on April 9, 1960. Together they ranched in San Saba County and Central Texas, building not only a lasting legacy of ranching but also a loving family. Linda was lovingly known as Neno to her family and close friends. Neno was a true example of the “big sister”. She was always taking care of everyone, whether you were family or not. Bill and Linda would have celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on April 9, 2026.

Linda is survived by her husband Bill, sons Jeff (Susie) Sloan and Damon (Lisa) Sloan and six grandchildren: Sara Sloan (Travis) Corsi, Wil Sloan, Jenna Sloan (Blaise) Lester, Justin Manning (Mary), Christine Garrett (Lane) and Burnam (Kimeri) Sloan. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren: Kayden and Sutton Sloan, Macey and Emma Lester, Valley and Bandi Corsi, Eli Garrett, and Lily and Preston Manning. These children were Neno’s pride and joy and she cherished every moment spent with them. Additional survivors are Linda’s sister Patty Cameron Shaw (Jarvis) and her brother, James Turner Cameron (Leslie) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Linda was preceded in death by her parents Dougal A. Cameron and Sara Jean Turner Cameron and her older brother, Dougal A. Cameron, Jr.

Linda’s life was full of love. She had a servant’s heart and it was felt by everyone she met. Young or old she always had a smile, a hug, and a full candy jar. Linda loved ranch life whether it was gathering cattle alongside her cowboys or cooking her delicious food for family and friends. She found joy in serving others with love. Linda was a life-long member of the First Presbyterian Church of San Saba where she served as an Elder and jumped in to do whatever needed doing in the church.

One area of Linda’s service that stands out for hundreds in the San Saba community is her part in creating the San Saba County Volunteer EMS in 1985. When her family was faced with a life-threating accident in the early 1980’s, Linda realized a need in the community and she set out to meet that need. In 1985 she and several other San Saba residents created San Saba County Volunteer EMS. She worked tirelessly following her “servant heart” and loved every minute of her service to the community.

Linda’s Celebration of Life will be held at First Presbyterian Church, San Saba, on Friday, March 6 at 10am. Burial will follow in the family plot next to the New Hope Presbyterian Church in the Sloan Cemetery. Reverend John Alsbrooks will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Linda’s memory may be made to First Presbyterian Church, San Saba, Texas.

We are all so sad to lose our sweet Neno but we know she is in Heaven with no pain or worries and probably making green bean bundles for Jesus.

I Corinthian 13:13. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is LOVE.

Pallbearers: Burnam Sloan, Wil Sloan, Travis Corsi, Cameron Lusk, Jack Whitten, Blaise Lester, and James Cameron

Honorary Pallbearers: Jason Shaw, Aaron Sloan, and Justin Manning.
