LLANO – The Brownwood Lady Lions came up short in both their Friday outings at the Llano softball tournament, falling by one run to Anderson-Shiro, 2-1, and Ingram Moore, 5-4.

All four of the tournament games for Brownwood (9-7) have been one-run decisions, with the Lady Lions falling to Wall, 2-1, and topping Lubbock Trinity Christian, 7-6, Thursday.

Brownwood concludes tournament play at 11:10 a.m. Saturday against Shallowater

In Friday’s opening setback, Anderson-Shiro (11-4) scored its first run in the bottom of the fourth inning on one of five Brownwood errors in the contest, followed by a two-out RBI double, the first hit allowed by the Lady Lions.

The Lady Lions pulled even at 1 in the top of the fifth as Maitlyn Esquivel reached on a dropped third strike to start the frame, moved to second on a sacrifice, and scored on Hanah Campos’ two-out RBI single to right field.

Anderson-Shiro tacked on the winning run in the bottom of the sixth, scoring on the final Lady Lion error, after Brownwood hit into a double play in the top half of the frame with the go-ahead run being retired at the plate.

Brownwood tallied just four hits – one each by Campos, Esquivel, Brenda Allen, and Kaydence Allen.

In the circle, Kaydence Allen yielded two runs on only one hit with five strikeouts and three walks.

Against Ingram (6-5-1), the Lady Lions scored a single run in all four innings, but yielded two runs in the top of the first and three more runs in the third frame.

The Lady Lions finished with seven hits to Ingram Moore’s five as Campos, Esquivel and Kaydence Allen logged two each, and Audrey Keas added the other. Kaydence Allen homered, while Campos tripled, as Kaydence Allen and Brenda Allen were credited with the Brownwood RBIs. Ingram Moore committed the game’s only two errors to aid the Lady Lion offense.

In the circle, Brenda Allen gave up the five runs on five hits with three strikeouts in three innings, and Kaydence Allen worked one inning of scoreless ball with three strikeouts and a walk.
