IOWA PARK – The Early Lady Horns split their first two games at the Iowa Park softball tournament Thursday, defeating Borger, 9-0, before falling to Canyon Randall, 10-0.

In the win over Borger, Early scored four runs in the second inning and added five more in the third, aided in part by nine Borger errors.

The Lady Horns collected 11 hits – three by Andie Simpson, two each by Aleeya McCombs and Kyleigh Caperton, and one apiece from Jaime Lyon, Paizlee Scott, Adysn Atchley and Avery Stifflemire. McCombs’ two RBIs were a team-best followed by one each from Caperton, Lyon, and Stifflemire.

In the circle, Sunny Groom tossed a two-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts.

Against Randall, Early mustered just four hits – one each by Caperton, Scott, McCombs and Simpson.

Randall scored twice in the first and third innings and tacked on six runs in the fourth.

The Lady Horns (8-4) will face Windthorst at 10 a.m. Friday, Pampa at 3:15 p.m. Friday, and Henrietta at 9 a.m. Saturday to conclude tournament action.
