Zephyr Bulldogs roll past Abbott, 67-50, for bi-district championship

HICO – The District 25-A champion Zephyr Bulldogs opened their postseason run with a 67-50 victory over the Abbott Panthers Tuesday night in Class A Division I Region IV bi-district playoff action.

With the win, Zephyr (27-9) moves on to face Wells (20-10) – a 68-45 winn over Hull-Daisetta (16-18) Tuesday night – in the area round of the playoffs at 6 p.m. Friday at Italy.

The Bulldogs trailed Abbott (15-17) 10-8 after one quarter, but caught fire in the second period en route to a 33-17 halftime lead that grew to 57-27 to start the fourth period.

Scoring for Zephyr were Reese Hamm with 22 points followed by Bauer Blair with 13, Ethan Prochaska with 12, CJ Byers with six, Cooper Walls with five, Troy Kubin with four, Reid Hamm with three, and Spencer Marwitz with two points.
