Well, this isn’t supposed to be dated time wise, but I’ll be honest with you. I’m doing this on Sunday morning. I didn’t go to church because I was sick and hopefully I’m close to over it, but I got a treat from staying home from church this morning.

I turn on the TV not knowing any better I get to watch the final Olympic game between Canada and the United States in ice hockey. Now I didn’t mention the girls earlier in the week but they won and the men did too.

What a game it was! I don’t know if there was a rivalry. I don’t know anything about the teams but they are supposed to be two of the better teams anywhere and they acted like it. They played a 1-1 regulation game, then went to overtime and the United States won! I don’t even know who got the goal, but 2-1 was the final score.

I don’t even remember the final score in the other hockey game I watched and that was twenty-five years ago or so. Oh gosh, it would be more than that wouldn’t it? Maybe thirty five? It was a long time ago and that was the United States against Russia. The US became the “darlings of the United States of America”. They absolutely beat the Russians, heavy, heavy, heavy underdogs but they went on to win it and became famous with a movie and all kinds of stuff. You’re tempted to say it was a fluke because earlier that season in an exhibition game Russia wore out the United States. I don’t think they had ever lost a game in the Olympics. Anyway, the United States won and it was a dream come true for all of those guys on that team.

This one was maybe even better. I’m going to tell you what, it looked like Canada had the better team for most of the game. Canada had opportunities to win but they just couldn’t do it. It was unbelievable! The United States was down one nothing then tied it 1-1. Anyway, they win the ballgame – or do they call it a ballgame – they won the match or whatever. The final was 2-1!

I hope when they replay it in the years to come a lot of kids in the United States will get the bug and become, as these were, great hockey players – just GREAT hockey players. They were a tremendous, just a tremendous team and the US won.

That’s my show this morning. The US won against Russia thirty or forty years ago and they win again against Canada in a game that was all it was supposed to be. The USA wins again in the Olympics. USA! USA! USA!

Until next time, so long everybody.
