CHINA SPRING – The No. 20 May Lady Tigers secured their spot for the third round of the postseason with a 44-18 victory over Avalon Friday night in the Class A Division I Region III area round of the girls basketball playoffs.
The Lady Tigers doubled up Avalon 12-6 after one quarter, the lead stood at 18-13 at halftime, but May pulled away in the third period to open a 35-15 advantage.
Chloe Lord poured in 25 points to spark the May offense followed by 15 from Jordyn Gerhardt, five from Lauren Hicks, and one point from Aubree Gerhardt.
The Lady Tigers (29-7) will next face No. 21 Dodd City (26-8) – a 42-32 winner over Perrin-Whitt Friday night – in the Class A Division I Region III semifinals, tentatively slated for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Azle.
