Blanket 40, Rising Star 36

DE LEON – The Blanket Tigers edged the Rising Star Wildcats, 40-36, Thursday night to claim the No. 1 seed from District 21 for the Class A Division II boys basketball playoffs.

Blanket (20-6) will meet Three Way (12-6) in bi-district playoff action at 6 p.m. Tuesday back at De Leon.

Albany 57, May 49

BAIRD – The Class A No. 18 May Tigers came up on the short end of a 57-49 decision to Class 2A Albany Thursday night in a playoff warm-up game.

May trailed 13-11 after one quarter, led 27-17 at halftime, carried a 40-38 lead into the fourth quarter, where Albany ended the game on a 19-9 run.

Scoring for May were Kobey Morris and Kaden Watkins with 12 points apiece, Brody Stice with 10, Mikey Scheriger with five, Maddix Raffel with three, and Jackson Lusk with two points.

The Tigers (22-9) open playoff action at 6 p.m. Monday in Zephyr against Lingleville

Clifton 52, Zephyr 44

CLIFTON – In a playoff tune-up, the District 25-A champion Zephyr Bulldogs came up short to Class 3A Clifton by a 52-44 Thursday night.

The Bulldogs (21-8) open playoff action at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Hico against Abbott.
