Terry Glen Newton, 71, passed away on February 17, 2026. Family will hold a visitation Friday, February 20, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Heartland Funeral Home in Early. Services will be Saturday, February 21 at 10 AM in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel.
Terry was born on May 17, 1954 in Cheyeanne, Wyoming, to A.J. and Coleta Newton. He attended school and graduated Bangs High School. He went on to attend Angelo State University. On June 28, 1980, Terry married Diane Cunningham and began a life together that blessed them with 2 children.
Terry had a fierce love for his family. He was many things to many people. He was a husband, father, “Papa T’, brother, and friend. The most important life decision he ever made was to follow Jesus. These are but a few of the things Terry was and will always be remembered for. Terry was the life of a party without much effort. He always wanted to make people laugh and didn’t have to try very hard. Terry stood for what he believed. He was a protector of family and loved to be with them. He loved to cook and when health problems started, he graciously gave it up so he didn’t start a fire. He always loved sports of any kind and should have been a coach or an announcer. (You could always hear him from the stand, sometimes even things you didn’t want to hear.) He was a character whether with friends or family. Terry was a hard worker and expected it from others. He played as hard as he worked. Terry loved fishing and was an avid fisherman. He loved the fellowship of people fishing with him and he usually always caught a fish. Terry had a way of selling anything – a born salesman. We always teased him that he could sell a pig a ham sandwich. He was not able to say words, but he said volumes with his smile. He left here smiling from within.
Terry is survived by his loving spouse, Diane Newton of Bangs; son, Shan Allen Newton, of Brownwood; daughter, Carly Diane Bill of Bangs; granddaughter, Kayleigh Paige Bill of Bangs; brother, Mark Newton (Sheila) of Bangs; brother, Brent Newton (Pennie) of Bangs; and sister, Cindy Shaw (Joe) of Brownwood.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Anderson Jay and Coleta Ann Newton.
