The Stephenville Police Department posted the following press release on social media early Wednesday:

On February 17 at approximately 9:39 p.m., officers with the Stephenville Police Department responded to a report of shots fire in the 100 block of Linda Lane.

Upon arrival, officers located two adult males outside a residence suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Both individuals were pronounced deceased at the scene. Preliminary investigation indicates the incident appears to be a murder-suicide. There is no ongoing threat to the public.

The identities of the deceased are being withheld pending notification of next of kin. This remains an active investigation at the this time.
