Robert Lee Roberson, 92, of Waco, Texas, formerly of Goldthwaite, Texas, died on February 9, 2026, in St. Catherine’s Center in Waco. Robert was born in Mills County, Texas, on November 23, 1933, the son of Erie D. and Lucile (Moore) Roberson.

Robert married Patricia (Copeland) Roberson on February 1, 1975, at Big Valley Baptist Church. Robert was Dad, to two step-sons, Alan and Glenn Haddock.

He was a devoted husband and father, patient but firm, “the best thing that ever happened to us.”

Robert graduated from Brownwood High School in 1951. He earned a B.S. in Ag Education from Texas Tech in 1955 and a M.S. in Bovine Genetics from the University of Minnesota in 1957. He was employed by the Bureau of Indian Affairs, working with the Navajo and Pueblo in New Mexico and Arizona. He continued his post graduate studies in beef cattle genetics at the University of Arizona before going back to Mills County to run the family ranch. Robert taught high school science in the Goldthwaite Schools fifteen years, returning to cattle ranching full time in 1987.

He enjoyed coffee with the group who gathered at the bank in the morning and with those who met at Cahoots in the afternoon. He genuinely liked people and could carry on a conversation with anyone. He had varied interests: Reading books of all genres, researching his family’s genealogy, watching sports, especially the Goldthwaite Eagles were among his favorites. He was a Baptist, joining Big Valley Baptist Church as a youth.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Harold Dee Roberson, and a nephew, Robert Samuel Roberson.

He is survived by his wife Patricia of Waco, son Alan Haddock and Kristi of Thousand Oaks, California; son Glenn Haddock and Amy, and granddaughter Gentry Rose Haddock of Austin Texas; a nephew, Hal Roberson and Joan of Leander, Texas; a niece, Robyn Roberson of Rio Dell, California; a sister-in-law, Janet Harvey of Omaha, Nebraska, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

There will be a graveside service, led by Butch Foster, at 2 P.M Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Goldthwaite Memorial Cemetery.
