Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 9 AM to 4 PM, Artists from across the state are invited to show their skills at the annual Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit’s annual Paint-Off.

The Paint-Off is a contest between artists who accept the challenge to create and complete a painting in just six hours. Awards consist of $500 for 1st place and $250 for 2nd place. The event is sponsored by the Arts Council of Brownwood.

Judging the event will be Faith Archambeau, who is a multimedia artist. The Stars Planning Committee made the selection due to Faith’s degree in studio art, familiarity of multiple forms of media and experience as gallery manager of the Center for Contemporary Arts in Abilene. Faith offers skill in identifying design elements, and coworkers and artists at the Center for Contemporary Arts have expressed that Faith has an amazing eye and does a great job putting together all of their shows.

An entry fee of $20 will include a light lunch. The Paint-Off is open to all Texas residents 18 years of age and older.

Registration will take place from 9-10 AM on Saturday (in person only), prior to the start of the event. Painting will begin at 10 AM, after artists are registered and their painting surfaces are inspected and stamped. Artists must supply their own easels, materials/supplies, and must keep their equipment compact.

All two-dimensional media is accepted (excluding photography). All subject matter must be tasteful and appropriate for this family friendly event. Artists may work from life, plein air, personal photo or value study. Surfaces must be stamped before painting. No unstamped surface will be accepted.

Artists must offer their work for sale by silent auction. They may set the opening bid. A 25% commission on all sales will be collected by the Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit. Bidding will close before the judging begins.

The public is invited to attend this exciting competition and bid on the art pieces as they are being created.

All completed, stamped works must be submitted to the Depot Ballroom by 3:30 PM.

Awards of first and second place will be announced at 4 PM the day of the event.

The public is invited to visit the Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit and view live artists at work during the Paint Off event, so mark your calendars and plan to attend!  For more information, please visit StarsOfTexasJuriedArtExhibit.com (http://starsoftexasjuriedartexhibit.com/).
