
Art is in the air, with the Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit currently at the Depot Civic and Cultural Center, and the Salon Des Refuses at the Brownwood Art Center.
If you’re feeling inspired to get creative yourself, dive into Gel Plate Printing, find your way with Watercolors and Gouache, and head outdoors for Plein Air Sketching and Painting, all at the Art Center.
Register and pay in person for all classes at the Brownwood Art Center, 215 Fisk, during regular gallery hours, Tues.-Fri from 2-6 pm, and Sat. from 10 am- 2 pm.
Gel Prints for Beginners with Joy Ferguson will meet Sat. Feb. 28, from 12:30-3:30. Gel plate printing creates beautiful mono prints without the need for a large, expensive press. It’s fun and easy, and anyone can do it. Tuition is $40 for Brownwood Art Association members, and $45 for non-members.
Learn how to paint in the great outdoors with Jeremy Serna, Sat. March 7, 9am to 3 pm. Plein Air Sketching and Painting students will assemble at the Art Center, then take a short drive to a nearby ranch for the morning session. Students will return to the Art Center for a catered lunch, followed by an afternoon session. Tuition is $125, which includes lunch.
Finding Your Way with Watercolor and Gouache, with June Musick, is a 3-class series on Tues. afternoons or evenings, March 12, 19, and 26. Afternoon sessions are from 1-3 pm, and evening sessions are 6-8 pm. Tuition for either 3-class series is $100. All skill levels are welcome.
Gouache is a water-based paint which has a higher pigment content than watercolor. Gouache dries fast, can be re-wetted, and leaves a matte finish.
