LLANO – The Brownwood Lions golf team fired a composite score of 322 in their first tournament of the season, the Llano Invitational Wednesday, to place fourth in the final team standings.

The Lions finished behind Blanco (304), as well as Liberty Hill (313) and Wall (313).

Competing for Brownwood were Layton Kemp with a round of 76, Will Stewardson with a 78, Peyton Sharp with an 82, Sheriff Jones with an 86, and Ryker Calvert with a 100.

Lion medalists in action on Wednesday included Andrew Roberts with a 106, Elijah Waldrop with a 114, and Jacob Orton with a 116.

Individually, Goldthwaite two-time state champion Walt Thompson placed second overall with a round of 67, trailing only Llano’s Graham Prokop with a 66.

The Lions will next compete Feb. 20-21 at Shadow Hills Golf Course in Lubbock in the Region I-4A preview.
