During Monday evening’s meeting, the Brownwood ISD Board of Trustees approved the 2026-27 school year calendar.
The first day of classes will be Tuesday, Aug. 11 with the school year slated to end Friday, May 21, 2027 – which will also be the date of graduation.
Among the highlights, a full week off for Thanksgiving continues Nov. 23-27, the Christmas break will take place Dec. 21 through Jan. 1, 2027, which falls on a Friday. A staff development day is set for Monday, Jan. 4, so students will not resume classes until Tuesday, Jan. 5. Also, Spring Break is slated for March 8-12, 2027.

Also, Superintendent Dr. Joe Young announced the days of school missed by the recent winter weather will not have to be made up this year.
“We still have enough minutes and days built into the calendar to be compliant and within regulation,” Young said.
Young added that if classes were to be canceled at any point going forward, extra days would be added to the spring semester schedule.
